KPC first separated the Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) intermediates in the 1970s. In 1983, it started the first clinical application and in 1985 it first applied for the name of “Xuesaitong”. In 1996, KPC first applied the advanced freeze-drying technology to production of the botanical medicinal injection and developed PNS freeze-dried powder – Luotai^® (powder for injection), which filled the domestic gap for botanical medicinal freeze-dried powder. Luotai^® (powder for injection) is a national healthcare medicine and national essential medicine and has six functions: anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombus, anti-platelet aggregation, improving hemorheology, scavenging oxygen free radicals and improving microcirculation. It is effective in treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
